#NotBadNews: We Lied BeforeTHIS Is the Cutest Animal Video You’ll See This Week

Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.

The Animal Shelter Is out of…Animals

If you live in Palm Beach, Florida and were hoping to adopt, you might be out of luck for the time being. Palm Beach Animal Care and Control is, for the first time, completely empty. Lockdown has given people time to introduce pets into their homes, and companions have been wanted now more than ever!

Each empty kennel represents a pet who now has a home. Congrats to the Palm Beach team on achieving this huge feat!

Tom Hardy Tucks You in

Though the actor is not known for kid-friendly work, starring in movies like Mad Max, The Revenant, and The Dark Knight, he has been recruited for BBC’s children’s channel CBeebies. Hardy, starting April 27, will be reading children’s bedtime stories, joined by his trusty sidekick Blue (an adorable French bulldog). The series will start with Hug Me by Simone Ciraolo.

Mom and Dad’s favorite actor can now become one for the household to enjoy!

Baby’s First Steps

We thought we’d seen the cutest animal video all week when one koala celebrated Easter–but we couldn’t have expected this.

Denver recently welcomed a baby rhinoceros to their zoo, now only two months old. The baby has been kept behind the scenes, but just this week got to take its first steps outside. Walking out into the exhibit, this cutie explored its new home in the mile-high city.

And while Denver welcomed a rhino, Billings Farm and Museum in Vermont wants us to say hello to their newest lamb, which they say came just in time for Baby Farm Animal Celebration! (Sounds like a celebration we can get behind.)

We’re officially head over heels for Norman. I mean, look at that smile!

The Best Kind of ‘Welcome Home’

Okay, I’m going to give you a moment to collect your tissues because this video is sure to make you cry.

Got them? Great!

After spending the last two weeks in the hospital, this 96-year-old grandma was able to return home, and someone was more than just a little happy to see him. His dog welcomed him home with enough excitement and love to effectively melt our hearts.

Yep, there goes another tear!

Live From New York, Michael Che Gives Back

Saturday Night Live writer and “Weekend Update” anchor Michael Che recently revealed that his grandmother passed away from COVID-19. To honor her memory, Che is paying one months rent for all 160 apartments that were in her building.

He additionally called on others with the means to help to do just that. This funny guy is continuing to make us smile.

A Book List Tailored to You

Los Angeles’ famed The Last Bookstore has found a way to continue connecting with their customers, offering a new type of book-buying service. Customers are asked to send in a list of their favorite books, authors, and budget. The team at The Last Bookstore then curates a reading list tailored just for the reader to choose from, shipping the books that most pique their interest.

This is a great way to support a local business, pass time in quarantine, and find a new book to obsess over. It checks all of the boxes!

Check-in every day for an update on the wonderful and weird things happening in our current coronavirus world.
